Our body needs to balance the acids and basis to sustain itself. The food we eat can be classified into alkaline, acid or neutral regarding the PH level it produces when consumed.

That being said, the Alkaline Diet emphasizes that the PH level on our bodies should be slightly alkaline to avoid stressing its regulators, if not, the PH wouldn’t be balanced and essential minerals wouldn’t be absorbed making us prone to illness.

The Alkaline Diet has become popular over the years as other trendy way of loosing weight, but there’s more to it. Those who strongly believe that the Alkaline Diet works claim that it also might prevent cancer, fatigue, obesity and allergies, while boosting your energy levels and improving your well being.

However, because the lack of scientific evidence, the theory behind this diet is not widely accepted by the medical community.

There are some things to consider when starting this diet:

As important as alkaline foods are, to keep a balanced PH acidic foods are also needed, so never eat just alkaline foods. Being so extreme might deprive your body of some essential minerals.

To keep healthy you also need other essential nutrients that are not address by alkaline foods, that’s why you should pay attention on including foods from all the major food groups into your diet.

Having tried the Alkaline Diet myself I can say it’s a great way to loose some weight and feel much healthier with little effort. At the beginning it’s a bit hard to remember the foods combinations but after a few days it just comes out naturally. I recommend this diet to those who want to feel better with their bodies, lighter, stronger and a bit thinner.
